December in Germany...
... was ist das??
I´m here to tell you all that my December 2018 was cancelled, and the universe didn´t even have the nerve to inform me before time.
Christmas markets in Germany are all that people rave about when they think about spending their December holidays here. I remember seeing videos and pictures of these markets on-line and thinking ``yeah B! that´s going to be my life, and I´m going to the market every single day for the food and glühwein (warm spicy wine)``. The excitement I had when I learned that one of the Christmas markets is 100m from our front door - I could even smell the spicy air and taste the glühwein before the market was set-up and opened.
It was all fun and games till I learned that everyone forgot to inform me that no one really gets to enjoy these Christmas markets because EVERYONE works till the 23rd and is back at work or school on 2nd January the following year - that´s literally just enough time to go for a coffee or smoke break! I don´t even think anyone knows the heartache of seeing everyone partying and having the time of their lives on social media, while I have to walk through the damn market every single day but cannot have that glühwein cause I have school the following morning, or have to prepare for Christmas and so forth.
I´ve written off December in Germany till 2020 .. so please be kind to me when you see me partying up a storm in South Africa in December 2019 - I´ll be doing it to cover 2018, 2019 and 2020.
P.S HAPPY New Year bantu bami. I hope 2019 will be good to all of us.
