Guess who's back... with the juice

Hallo! Hi! Dumelang! Sanibonani! Molweni…!
I hope everyone has been doing well, hydrating and minding their business.

I took a little break because life in Europe came at me sideways again. It’s been a constant battle between my health, learning German, finding a university near our hometown with the exact program I want to do, being a home executive (it sounds better than housewife), and and and.
Just over a year into being a South African in the diaspora (or an expat – whatever you want to call it), and I think I have finally found my rhythm. I can boldly say I am back to blogging and being alive again 😊.

So much has happened in the last few months and I want to share some of it with you; so here goes an update into the life of Mumi (as our nephew; Master J, calls me).
First and foremost, let’s all grab a glass (bottle is better) of wine, champopo, beer or water (not advisable) to hydrate and celebrate me passing the official TELC Deutsch B1 exam on my first attempt! That’s the first and most important step in integrating and building a life in Deutschland because that is usually the certificate that is required for employment, permanent residence or citizenship (though I would not trade my South African citizenship for nada). I kid you not when I say, you will need to have a B1 certificate or level of understanding and communicating to live comfortably because uzoba fra m’twana ka mma uma unga khulumi isiJermane. Ba tla go sheba maoto ba tswe mo wena osale oshiname.
Secondly, I am HAPPY to announce that I am finally planning a million weddings (only 4 in 2 continents) that I am dreading because forever without the celebrations is apparently not forever. I would like to warn all those that plan on getting married soon; marriage is super cheap, all you need is a couple of documents, R75 for Home Affairs (or about 200€ for Standesamt, a pretty dress and suit for the groom, a bouquet of flowers and a great photographer, and you’re married. Weddings on the other hand are RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE and there’s honestly no logical reason to spending thousands, sometimes even millions, on hosting people you don’t really know, don’t really like, have not contributed to your wellbeing at any point in your life, and won’t even bring a wedding gift on the wedding day! But because we have made weddings a thing – it is what it is.
Last but not least, I AM COMING HOME… but only for a short visit and the first thing I am having before I even leave the airport or tell anyone that I have arrived is CHICKEN LICKEN HOTWINGS with an ice-cold Savannah or Hunters Dry. My family and friends are tasked with ensuring that I eat as much braai meat, boerewors, kota, magwinya, biltong, mogodu, tlhakwana and umqushu as I possibly can because it’s been a looooooooooong year and a half of kartoffelsalad, currywurst, bratwurst, schnitzel, rouladen and gulash.

Anyhow, ngi nithanda nonke and I hope to see you back on my blog again next week.

P.S. Please like and subscribe to my best-friends´ YouTube channel. It is called Lauren_Baked and we did a get-to-know-us video that she’ll post soon.
